"7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him."
Lord, had it not been for You waking us up this morning, we would have missed an opportunity to connect with You. Many are the afflictions of Your people, but You deliver us from them all. We rejoice in the fact that as we lift You up higher, You bring us up from where we formerly were. We are being renewed from glory to glory, so You get the glory! Our complete trust is in You and we give You praise! In Jesus' name, Amen!
"2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."
I remember when I was in Army basic training, we had many trials we had to overcome, to include harrassment from the drill sergeants. We had to go through tasks to b
reak down our wills individually to be able to recieve instruction and execute corporately. I joined and was there for the opportunity to "liberate" myself from "tyranny" of someone telling me what to do, only to have everyone telling me what to do (funny, right?). I was stressed and unhappy, it was surely one of many times I asked God what in the world why I made the decision to leave the safety of home?
One day, it was hot outside and we had a long day of exercises. One of the many trials we had experienced was a a series of marches, with one in particular being us crossing a river with weapons. I am sure one of the underlying purposes was to keep us cool, but our main task was to keep our rifles and each other safe while we crossed. Obviously we were expected not to drown; however, we were also expected to keep our weapons in a state of being able to fire and not jammed because of water and rust. In order to do so we had to follow the leading of our lead drill, by following his commands and walking in the path he chose to take us through. There were moments that the water came up to our chins and we had to press on. I found that if you found and stepped on a rock, you could not ony get sure footing, you had better chances of staying above water whether it be moving, or still. Also, if you stayed on the path of the people before you, as they stayed on the path of the one who was leading us to safety; the path of resistance from the water was less intense. The weight of the decisions that affected our group was on the main leader and it was our resposibility to follow his commands to assure the safety of our team mates.
When we made it through, I started recognizing that what seemed truly a disasterous situation from my decision to join the armed forces, actually started me on a path to maturity. This is not a plug for anyone to join the armed services; even as much as downing anyone who has, or will join. This is more so an exhortation that when you follow the leading of God in your life, as in the example of the river, He will make provision and protect you in the trials of life. Come hell, or high water, He is faithful to see us through and has given us a a rock and foundation to stand on while He leads us through to victories in life. In Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus said “24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
If we put our trust in Jesus when we make choices and even after we make either any decisions; He is faithful to make our end results to give Him the glory. The key is to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, then trust and believe that all things will work out for our good. It is also very helpful to seek wise and Godly counsel when you are experiencing challenges in life. Be sure to cross-reference what they tell you be reading the Word (Bible). Are you trusting in the One who has died for our sins, bore our strips that we be healed and bruised for our transgressions that we may have grace to live an abundant life? Jesus did that for us and is the rock of our salvation when we experience the heat of hard trials while we go through the rivers of life. Be encouraged because you are not alone. The is ultimate comfort and assurance in our risen savior, Jesus. Also, the joy of our Lord is His strength.
To God be all the glory, In Jesus’ name, Amen!
There was a song in the 70's sung by Diana Ross with words that said:
Do you know where you're going to?
Do you like the things that life is showing you
Where are you going to?
Do you know...?
Do you get
What you're hoping for
When you look behind you
There's no open door
What are you hoping for?
Do you know...?
Greatness is inside of us all waiting to be released. However, the Greater One, God, is waiting to increase the results of that release in the lives of us who know Him and in the lives of people who do not know Him, but will accept Him. For those of us who do, let's seek God on how we can increase in Him to manifest the full blessing of salvation. Creation is groaning, waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God (Men and Women). Rom 8:19 paraphrased. In all our pursuits, let the main focus be that people are saved from Hell. We were not originally destined for destruction in God's original plan. Adam and Eve were tricked by the devil and made a choice for rebellion, relinquishing their dominion over the earth. As a result, we live in a failing and sin ridden world. People will do whatever to get whatever. God gave us His son Jesus for the redemption of our sins. He paid the price by shedding His blood for us as the ultimate sacrifice on the cross. There was no other way. The devil set a plan in motion to kill, steal and destroy, but Jesus came to give us life and that more abundantly. God has an ultimate plan for our lives and from the beginning of time, He called it good.
Where do you find yourself today? Have you settled for the lie the enemy has sold you? Are you living with condemnation in your heart towards others...even yourself? Have you accepted failure as the end result and not a stepping stone? Be free! Jesus has paid it all on the cross and God's Word reveals how we can live a life of freedom through Christ Jesus. The beginning of that is to seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. All other things shall be added. this includes salvation, restoration, healing and breakthrough. Just believe and receive His truths through the Word.
This may be a basic message, but the foundation of what we do is to be on Jesus. He is the living Word and was the stone that the builders rejected, becoming the cornerstone. The abundant life is ours for the taking if you just believe and receive this gift given by grace. If you have not given your life to Christ Jesus, I urge you to do so now. Say this simple prayer and receive Jesus by faith:
"JESUS, come into my life. I repent of my sin and accept you as my Lord and savior. Turn from my way and give my life to You. Thank you for setting my free from satan and the darkness of this world."
If you said that prayer, rejoice in the Lord! All of Heaven is rejoicing with you! God has given us the gift of salvation that could never had been paid for unless there was a shedding of blood. In the past, sin was redeemed by the shedding the blood of sheep and goats. But then Jesus came on the scene...
If you have already accepted Christ as your Lord and savior, be reminded that we have an even higher calling in Him. - even if we are already doing great works, so be encouraged and do not let your faith fail. The course is not finished until He sees us and says "...Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." Matthew 25:21
The Greater, is calling forth His greatness in us, to come through us to others. People will be blessed by our story and He will the glory. Thank you Lord for the promise of your daily renewing of our spirit man daily. From glory to glory, we will look more and more like You! The end result will be good. This we believe and declare, in Jesus' name, Amen!
